We arrived early to have a quick Christmas drink, however the bar wasn't quite open or ready. The cafe and bar areas were ok, however feeling a little like it needed an update and bar staff who were organised and approachable.
All of the cups, glasses were plastic.
Once to our seats the auditorium was nice, our seats in a very good position. We sat row F, seats 1-3. The whole performance was gifted from start to end, with usual cheesey jokes, quips and great catchy songs. This performance had that little bit more, the whole cast just have something special and kept you captivated. From choosing a member of the audience to play bit parts in the panto, to children shouting boos and laughing totally out loud....the panto was a Christmas cracker and we would go back to see this cast again. Bravo ?

Beautiful theatre with easy access, close to the Minster.

We attended an afternoon panto performance- Aladdin, which was really good, two and half hours of laughter and some brilliant audience participation

An amazing place combining a beautiful old building harmoniously complemented by modern services such as wheelchair accessibility.
My family had a lot of fun with the pantonym Aladdin. Beautiful scenery, wonderful musical accompaniment of the orchestra, a wonderful production of the legendary story, beautiful costumes and highly professional acting.
My children long remembered Aladdin's flight, and my mother admired the acting of the Policeman.
We are looking forward to next Christmas to come again.

First time at the Theatre Royal. Really enjoyed the venue and the performance of Aladdin was superb. The whole cast was brilliant and a big clap to the stage and costume designers. Had me cracking up at so many points not to mention the amazing carpet ride. Both my 10 year old and 2 year old were so engaged and enjoyed every moment. Bravo to you all.

Wonderful theatre, retaining it's Victorian heart with a modern lobby and bar. We saw the Christmas panto, Aladdin, which was all a panto should be.

Entry was simple and quick, with fast bag checks, and plenty of staff to direct you once inside. Wait at the bar was very short, plenty of tills and staff to serve. Impressed wine was in (plastic) wine glasses and you are welcome to take a bottle in with you too! The scan at your seat wasn’t needed for me (lots of kids for the production, so maybe that’s why) but REALLY useful to have drinks able to be bought to your seat. Able to get fresh air in interval, and toilets easy to locate too. Finally, no staff shining torches at you or holding ‘no mobile’ signs - refreshing. All in all, impressive.
